(Before Owens gets another word out, Roman Reigns attacks him from behind and they brawl, before being separated by security)īraun Strowman vs. Owens: We're in this together, Chris! It's you and me, buddy! We're in this tog. Jericho: You got my back, Kevin? You can watch it as I leave. You deserve it, buddy! But as far as tonight goes, I got your back like I know you have mine. at Roman Reigns for the United States Championship. You do deserve a title shot, which is why I'm going to march right into Mick Foley's office and demand that after tonight, you finally get your shot. Owens: You know what, Chris, you're right. (Jericho starts eyeing Owens' Universal Championship, and Owens starts looking paranoid) And now, because of you, I'm forced into a match with a guy who has nothing to lose, when in fact, I should be focused on championship gold. How 'bout some gratitude? I mean isn't this what you wanted? Owens: That I got you into? You sound bitter. I was busy, you know, preparing for a match tonight, that you got me into. Owens: Did you see that? Chris, did you see that? I outsmarted that dummy Roman Reigns, and once again get to hold my head up high in triumph! You had to have seen it. As Sheamus checks on Cesaro, Kingston grabs his foot, and Big E. Sheamus chases Woods into the ring and then tries for the brogue kick, but Woods avoids it, and Sheamus accidentally kicks Cesaro. Sheamus then chases Woods around ringside, as Cesaro is making Kofi tap out to the sharpshooter, but Kofi's not the legal man. out with a brogue kick, as Sheamus pins Big E., Woods puts Big E.'s foot on the bottom rope. This should be a great match too, and I see the finish come where Cesaro is doing the swing on Kofi in the ring, while Sheamus takes Big E. I think if they're going to flip the titles, it should be on a much bigger show than this. I am starting to like Cesaro and Sheamus as a team as well, but I ultimately think there is more value in keeping the belts on New Day, and hopefully whoever takes it from them will receive an equally huge push. They were involved in one of two fantastic triple threat matches on Raw this week, and I thought it was the first time in a long time that New Day were booked strong as champions, instead of just a mid-card comedy act. These two teams seem to have really good chemistry with each other. Cesaro and Sheamus for the WWE Tag Team Championships

Champions!ĪLL: New Day Rocks! New Day Rocks! New Day Rocks! (this continues as we cut to the live crowd). Kingston: So bring on anyone, hell, bring on everyone! We'll take on all challengers, and come 2018, we will still be your.Īll: W. But you know what? 2017 is a brand new year! Xavier: But you know what, Kofe? We pretty much beat everybody else anyway, so now it's like we have to face everybody again.īig E.: Good for us. Kingston: That's right, two matches! And you know, we're so good, that we have to go out now and beat a team we done already beat twice. Not only that, but you had to win two triple threat matches against four teams to do it. Owens then gets up and lifts his shirt to reveal a metal shield underneath, paying tribute to the classic Bret Hart/Goldberg angle of '99.Ĭharlie: Gentlemen, first of all, I think congratulations are in order, after you accomplished an incredible feat Monday night and made history as the longest reiging Tag Team Champions in the history of this company. Owens recovers and rolls Reigns over to pick up the win and keep the title. Reigns then sets up for the big spear and after Owens misses a cannonball in the corner, Reigns finally hits it, but just lays motionless after delivering the move. He hits all of his big moves including the Samoan drop and Superman punch. It's probably going to get some serious time, and I see Reigns dominating Owens in the closing moments of the match. Having said that, this should be a really good opener, as these two had a pretty decent match a couple weeks ago.

Aside from that, this story line kind of takes a backseat to the potential break-up of JeriKO anyway.

For a world title match, it hasn't had the greatest build, and I don't think anybody wants to see Reigns win the title here. I can't possibly see them putting this match on last.
